Replacing the lock on the fresh water tank cap
The thin retaining lugs on the tank cap often break off over time. The tank can then no longer be closed properly. ...
Here you will find instructions on how to replace the fuel filler cap and keep the original lock.
Workload:
approx. ¼- ½h
You will need the following for the exchange:
- Replacement tank cap
- Small slotted screwdriver
- Pliers
First, the old fuel filler cap must be removed and locked with the key.
Then use the pliers to pull the plug out of the new tank cap
The seal of the old cover can now be levered out with the screwdriver.
There are smaller lugs on the sides of the three retaining lugs that hold the white inner part. Lever out with feeling here too.
The small white cover on the back of the lock can now be removed
The lock catch can now be pressed in with the screwdriver
With the lock held, the lock can now be pushed out forwards with the pliers (a second person is recommended here).
The lock can now be pulled out of the old fuel filler cap
Insert the lock into the new tank cap and the tank can be properly closed again
